Why is modern art considered by some to be "rubbish"?

Updated: Oct 10, 2022

Why is modern art considered rubbish. Some people really need educating when it comes to modern art. What I can say, though…

I am one of those individuals who thinks that there's nothing wrong with being old and/or ugly (for example). Maybe everyone has their unique way toward understanding beauty? For me, my eyes are open to having more wrinkles than the average man. Beauty is subjective, Art is subjective. This means that what you and I might consider to be art may not be perceived that way by someone else. There are people who don’t like modern art because they don’t understand why it has been created in the first place.

To them, the artwork makes little sense and can come across as strange and nothing more than meaningless scribbles on a white canvas.

However, there are some people who love modern art because they see something different, something special in it. They appreciate the fact that it causes their senses to be stimulated in a way that normal art doesn’t do.

So, what is it about modern art that has led to such strong reactions?

Maybe its too abstract and divorced from reality. Many people believe that modern art is simply a product of the artist's ego, and that it has no value whatsoever.

However, there is actually a lot of value in modern art. It can be used to express ideas and emotions that cannot be conveyed through traditional means. It can also be used to challenge the status quo and to push boundaries. Modern art may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it is certainly worth considering for appreciation.

So next time you see a modern painting, don't automatically think that it's rubbish. Try to understand what the artist is trying to say. You might just find that you enjoy it.
